The method

Where the data comes from, what we count and when a figure gives way to "n/a".

Sources

Adverts come mostly from employers' own careers pages. Some come from intermediaries that republish them, such as agencies and job aggregators. Sample adverts in sector reports and role profiles link to the advert on the employer's own website.

When an advert "asks for AI skills"

An advert "asks for AI skills" when its text names artificial intelligence as a requirement or as part of the role. An automatic rule, the same in every report, looks next to each mention of AI for the words that make it a requirement.

Adverts and texts read

We read the full text for part of the adverts. The share of adverts asking for AI is calculated on that part, and every percentage states how many cases it is calculated on.

The minimum threshold

Shares of adverts asking for AI and salaries calculated on fewer than 20 cases appear as "n/a": a sample that small would give a misleading figure.

Salaries

Salaries are those stated in the adverts: the employer's offer, which may differ from what is eventually paid. They are reported in euros at European Central Bank reference rates; for the few currencies outside the ECB list, at an indicative rate.

Dates

Every report states the period it covers and the date on which it was calculated. The stated period is the one covered by the data actually collected.

Checking the figures

Every report published on the portal goes through a consistency check of its figures: within the report, across reports for the same period, and between the Italian and English editions. If the check finds an error, the report stays out of the portal until it is corrected.

Access and contact

Reports are read in the portal, after signing in. Clients have private areas with dedicated reports, co-branded on request. Reports are currently published in Italian.
